Spooky

It’s nearly Halloween again. The nights are drawing in and the leaves are falling from the trees. Some of the trees near me are turning a bright red, almost as though they are on fire.

Last year I sent you some little Halloween bits and pieces in the post, but you said you didn’t receive them. It is now 6 months since I last saw you, when we went on the trains in Loughborough. Do you remember we went in a “viewing carriage which had extra big windows? It was sunny that day and the big windows really let the light in. We had to wait awhile because there was a fire on the embankment beside the tracks. The train driver and crew stopped to put out the fire by beating it, with beaters, obviously. We reckoned that an earlier steam train had shot out some sparks or cinders that set light to the dry grass.

Uncle Phil and Ollie came with us that day and he has some great pictures of us. You may wonder why I don’t put any pictures of you on this web site. That’s because, if there are no pictures of you, no-one can complain about this site.

You may have lots of other questions that you wonder about. You can ask them anytime you like; just use the contact box on this site and I’ll be right back to you if you remember to include your number or email address in the message. You can also just call me if you want. Your mum has my number, as does Nanna Mary. Or message me for it.

I wonder how you’re getting on at school. And how tall you are now. I reckon you’ll end up at 6 ft and 1 inch if you eat your vegetables. Never a day goes by that I don’t wonder how you’re doing. Most of all, I hope you are happy.

New York, New York!

New York, New York! So great they named it twice! So it goes in Frank Sinatra’s song anyway. And how cool is New York?  It really is the city that never sleeps. Oscar and Garfield absolutely loved it.

We had our picture taken from the Top of the Rock, the Rockefeller Centre. You can see the Empire State Building in the background. We were so high that helicopters were flying below us!

Do you remember that Oliver and Edward moved to America for a year, in 2009?  I really wanted to take you there but it wasn’t possible.  By the end of their year there, both Oliver and Edward talked with American accents!  Really weird!!  They have lost their accents since they came back to Kinoulton.  They lived in a small town called Ringwood in the state of New Jersey.  It is a lovely place, with deer and bears in the woods (real actual bears that break into your bins at night)
